Red Cross Youth Interact Launches Online Donor-Donee Matching Platform

January – February 2018

As one of its major projects for the Interact year 2017-18, the Red Cross Youth (RCY) Interact Club recently launched GiveLife.ph, an online donor-donee matching platform that matches donors to individuals in need of educational and medical assistance.  A brainchild of its dynamic club president and founder Julia Ongchoco, GiveLife offers assistance in the form of scholarships, textbooks, wheelchairs, surgical procedures and of course, blood units.

In Julia’s words, “It just so happened that our club’s mother Rotary club (New Manila Heights) has this ongoing project donating wheelchairs and free surgeries for club foot and cleft lip and palate, and despite sharing this with other Rotary clubs, the number of beneficiary referrals still came in trickles.  Then, it  just occurred to me how there are so many generous donors willing to share their blessings but probably don’t know where to share these blessings, and conversely, there are so many poor people out there who are in need of medical and educational assistance but do not know where to seek help.”

And so GiveLife was born.  Currently, GiveLife focuses on educational and medical assistance and donations although it also has a donor and donee option for other non-related items.  This early, it already has education and medical-related donation commitments from over 10 entities including Asian Trinity School, Bagong Henerasyon, Center for Culinary Arts, Gardner College, Gateways Institute of Science & Technology, Glenridge’s School, Hospital on Wheels, Informatics College, Mabuhay Shriners Philippines, Rotary Club of New Manila Heights and Electron College.

For interested donors or for people in need of educational or medical assistance, you may visit www.givelife.ph and check the life and wish catalogs to either give life (to donate) or make a wish (to request for assistance). check it out for more details.
